U.S. Blacklists 28 Chinese Entities Over Abuses in Xinjiang – The New York Times

The Trump administration said Monday that it had added 28 Chinese organizations to a United States blacklist, effectively blocking those entities from purchasing American products. The 28 organizations have all been implicated in human rights violations and abuses in China’s campaign targeting Uighurs and other predominantly Muslim minorities in the autonomous region of Xinjiang, according to a Commerce Department filing.

Donald Trump has always been an unstable and erratic person, but Rachel Maddow pointed out on Monday night that he appears to be deteriorating at an alarming rate as the impeachment process ramps up. The MSNBC host said, “As this impeachment proceeding goes forward and does not slow down and continues to turn up more negative information about the president and his behavior, we are seeing some even weirder than usual behavior by the president.”

Two of the south Florida businessmen who helped Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani with his pressure campaign against the Ukrainian government don’t intend to voluntarily comply with House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry requests, the Miami Herald reported Monday.  Both Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman don’t plan to respond to the House’s Monday deadline for documents and will not appear for testimony on Thursday and Friday this week.....

Iranians tried to hack U.S. presidential campaign in effort that targeted hundreds, Microsoft says – Washington Post

The intrusion observed by Microsoft, spearheaded by an outfit it calls Phosphorus, made more than 2,700 attempts to identify personal email addresses that belonged to the company’s customers over a 30-day period between August and September, 241 of which were then attacked. Four were compromised, but they do not belong to the presidential campaign or government officials, according to the tech giant.
