Excerpt:

QUESTION: I usually hesitate to answer phone surveys, but several months ago, I received a phone call about a possible grocery store that was considering a location in Longview. I enjoy cooking, so a new grocery store sounded interesting. As the survey progressed, I learned that a company called Winco Grocery was considering the former Sears building as a location. Could you check and see if there is still interest in the possibility?

ANSWER: I’m sorry to say I’ve failed you. First, I’ve tried multiple ways to reach someone with WinCo Foods, an…

Vulnerable House Democrats Remain Hesitant to Back Articles of Impeachment – Newsweek

Moderate Democrats who hail from swing districts are exercising extreme caution when it comes to showing support for the two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump unveiled Tuesday by the House. Asked whether they plan to support the abuse of power and obstruction of Congress articles, which allege Trump "betrayed the nation" in "corruptly soliciting" election aid from Ukraine and engaged in "unprecedented, categorical and indiscriminate defiance" of Congress, several Democrats opted to reserve judgement until they've more thoroughly reviewed the text and given thought to the matter. "The seriousness of the decision for me—it's probably the most serious consideration I'll give anything that I've considered my one year in Congress," said Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), a former CIA analyst. "I'm not going to be pushed one way or another. I have lots of people lobbying me, but I'm going to do what I was trained to do as national security professional and as an intelligence officer, which is make my own decision based on what I think is right."

Revamping N.J. labor law to protect workers in ‘gig economy,’ boost state taxes – WHYY

State lawmakers are considering updating New Jersey labor law to boost worker protections and prevent companies in the so-called gig economy from misclassifying workers as independent contractors. Legislation cleared a Senate committee last week seeking to expand the state’s definition of what constitutes an official “employee” of a company to include those who aren’t typically in the office or “place of business” of the employer. That is intended to keep companies from misclassifying their workers as “independent contractors.”
